Atmosphere: The atmosphere is 100% multicultural. Tourists from almost all over the world mingle in the town with locals and Chileans (not of Atacameño ethnicity). There are also terraces where you can enjoy coffee, ice cream made with local ingredients, open-air restaurants with outdoor grills, and more.
Gastronomy: In San Pedro, you can find a wide variety of culinary specialties, from traditional Chilean food to sushi, pizzas, Atacama cuisine , and more. Over time, restaurants have incorporated local products, such as rica rica, and dishes made with the fruit of the chañar tree, one of the area's endemic trees. Llama meat is also available. Many establishments offer high-quality live music during lunch and/or dinner.
It could be said that the range of restaurants is quite varied and interesting, so it is worth planning it carefully.
Location: San Pedro is a small town whose historic center, with its dirt roads and single-story buildings, is no more than four blocks by four blocks. There you can find practically everything you could need, except transportation and taxis at night. To avoid any problems, it's best to stay within a few blocks of the center or find one of the hotels that offer shuttle services to and from the center a few times a day.
